Responder - Rescue Task Force

The role of Responder are restricted to only those who serve as a Search and Rescue Technician, Emergency Medical Responder, Emergency Non-Medical Transporter, and Emergency Support Unit Technicians who are assigned to respond to emergency and disaster calls on the frontlines. These individuals are categorized into 3 Responder Ranks and 1 Engineer Officer.

Responder I | Emergency Response Technician in Training / Junior Emergency Responder

This rank is for new volunteers who wish to serve in the Rescue Task Force. Responder I or "Probationary" is the first rank of the RTF. It is for all personnel assigned to the Emergency Responder Role that have just joined and have no medical training or certifications. Responder I are able to respond only alongside Responder II to Class 2 scenes i a training capacity only under supervision of a Respond II and above and are only allowed to take non-medical action.

Responder II | Emergency Response Technician / Senior Emergency Responder

This rank is for volunteers who serve in the Rescue Task Force and have been assigned to a unit. Responder II is the second rank in the RTF. It is for rescue trained volunteers with no medical certifications who have been trained in Basic Life Support Medical and First Aid. Responder II are able to first respond to Class 2 and below rescue scenes such as minor extrication from Motor Vehicle Crashes, inaccessible space rescue, and rescues without major injuries or fires.

Responder III | Emergency Response Technician / Chief Response Technician - Field Supervisor

This rank is for volunteers who serve in the Rescue Task Force and have been assigned to a unit. Responder III is the third rank in the RTF. It is for rescue trained volunteers who are certified as an EMR/EMT-B/EMT-ADV/EMT-P/EMT-CCP. Responder III with EMT-ADV/EMT-P/EMT-CCP and above are able to transport patients as requested by local Fire Departments and EMS. They are able to first respond to Class 3 and below scenes alongside EMS & Fire Department when also includes major trauma, fires, and any possibly fatal injuries.

Engineer Officer | District Emergency Response Field Commander

This rank is for volunteers who serve in the Rescue Task Force and have been assigned to a unit. Engineer Officer or "Senior Chief" is the fourth rank in the RTF. It is for rescue trained volunteers who are certified as EMR/EMT-B/EMT-ADV/EMT-P/EMT-CCP and have been trained as a backup dispatcher. This rank responds to all Major calls Class 3 and above and serves as the field commander for the district. They work in tandem with the Staging Officer and local EOC/ESD.

Technician - Engineer Support Unit

The role of Technician is for all who serve in the Engineer Support Unit as a non-emergency responder or who serve in a technical, administrative, logistical, and analytical capacity. These individuals are categorized into 3 Technician Ranks and 1 Staging Officer.

Technician I | Support Technician in Training / Junior Support Technician

This rank is for new volunteers who wish to serve in the Engineer Support Unit. Technician I or "Journeyman" is the first rank of the ESU. It is for all personnel assigned to the Support Technician Role that have just joined and have no medical training or certifications.

Staging Officer - District Emergency Management Coordinator

This rank is for volunteers who serve in the Engineer Support Unit and have been assigned to a unit. Staging Officer or "Senior Chief" is the fourth rank in the ESU. It is for support trained volunteers who are certified as EMR/EMT-B/EMT-ADV/EMT-P/EMT-CCP and have been trained as a backup dispatcher. This rank serves as the Coordinator for Emergency Management for their district in accordance with local regulations contacting and working with local EOC/ESD.
